Mardi Gras Charity Ball & Pageant 2005

Tri-City Hospital Foundation held the fifth annual Mardi Gras Charity Ball and Pageant on Saturday, January 22, 2005 at the Serra Center at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside.  All proceeds of Mardi Gras benefit services for children with developmental disorders at the North County Child Study Center, a program of Tri-City Medical Center.

The theme of the 2005 Mardi Gras was Le Masquerade du Moulin Rouge— Where Cabaret Meets Mardi Gras. The Serra Center was transformed into  festive Paris, where the Eiffel Tower vaulted skyward and the Red Windmill of Moulin Rouge turned.

Almost 700 guests enjoyed a magical evening complete with roaming acrobats in exotic costumes; three bands including Lafayette’s Bayou Boys and the Storyville Stompers; the Naval Hospital Color Guard; sumptuous foods prepared by New Orleans Chef Danny Fontenot; and a parade consisting of five floats and a Krewe of 150 costumed revelers and can-can dancers who threw thousands of beads and other trinkets to guests.

Heading the parade was the royal court led by King and Queen of the Ball, Randy Browning, M.D., and Kathy Francisco. Also in the royal court were Prince Mark Wosk; Princesses Diana Barry, Catherine Cho, and Bethany Marinelli; Dukes Ellis Diamond, M.D., Fred Just, and Rudy Gastelum;.and Duchesses Marcia Cavanaugh, Ondrea Labella, and Paula de Sousa;  Featured in the parade were Chairpersons and Captain and First Lieutenant of the Krewe,  Dr. Arthur and Debbie Gonzalez.
