Dedicated to Excellence at Tri-City Medical Center: Dr. Ted Folkerth, Chief of Staff

A kind man and well-respected cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Ted Folkerth is one of the great assets of Tri-City Medical Center. As of July 1, Dr. Folkerth is Tri-City Medical Center’s new Chief of Staff.

“I have great feelings for where I work,” explained Dr. Folkerth, “and believe in Tri-City Medical Center as a wonderful hospital because of the excellent collection of individuals who choose to spend their life helping others.”

A graduate of Indiana Medical University, Dr. Folkerth spent time doing surgical residencies: at San Diego Naval Medical Center and at Stanford Veterans Hospital; also a Fellowship at Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Boston for congenital heart surgery. Dr. Folkerth has been a practicing cardiac surgeon for over 30 years and has served on the medical staff of Tri-City Medical Center for the last 17 years.

Dr. Folkerth’s wife, Jean, is the Cardiac Surgery Coordinator at Tri-City Medical Center. Dr. Folkerth has three children: Wes, who is a Shakespeare Professor; Beth, who holds several art degrees; and Geoff, who is a linguist and musician.

Dr. Folkerth looks forward to his time as Chief of Staff. “I hope to further the positive relationships between medical staff and the supportive administration,” he said, “and promote the Medical Center to new levels of community awareness.”

Aside from his busy medical duties, Dr. Folkerth and his wife Jean also find time to stay active with the Tri-City Hospital Foundation. “I strongly believe in being a steward within the workplace,” noted Folkerth, “and the Foundation has always been a generous supporter of Tri-City Medical Center. From invaluable medical purchases to physical expansions of our hospital, Tri-City Hospital Foundation has performed above and beyond the call of duty.”

Dr. Folkerth also praises the Foundation’s support of Tri-City Medical Center’s healthcare staff. “The nursing staff at Tri-City Medical Center is excellent. The Foundation does an excellent job of supporting nurses and other medical center staff by providing scholarship and growth opportunities.”

The Folkerth’s are truly dedicated to supporting our Tri-City community. Thank you both for your continued commitment to Tri-City Medical Center and Tri-City Hospital Foundation.
